Robert Bacal As Keynote Speaker/Conference Speaker
While I don't actively market myself as a keynote presenter or speaker, it's one of the things I enjoy most and it's something I'm good at. I consider speaking engagements when invited, and prefer to be invited by those who are familiar with my work, and particularly the books I've written. That way, customers have some idea of what I have to offer, content wise.
I don't do "motivational speeches" per se, because they don't work. If you need someone to come in just to stir up the troops, there's lots of people to choose from, but I won't do it. HOWEVER, that said, I believe that when one speaks to a group, people should leave the session having:
- learned something important they can USE
- feel uplifted or energized
- have enjoyed the session's organizers and speaker
It's no accident that learning comes first. NOT "motivation". Rah-Rah stuff wears off really fast and often increases negative thinking and cynicism.
Possible Keynote Topic Areas?
One of the things about being around and professionally active for a long time is that one collects ideas, knowledge, opinions and even a bit of wisdom about a lot of topics. With my background in Psychology and Education to help, I've learned and have a level of competency in a number of topic areas that seem to be unrelated. I'm just a little tough to categorize, but here's the topic areas I am most interested in, and may even be considered to be a thought leader in (that's not mine to say).
- Performance Management & Appraisal
- Customer Service
- Social Media
- Small Business
- Communication and Conflict
- Organizational and Personal Change
If you like my books, or, even better, my websites, you'll probably like my speaking and presentations. I've been described as energetic, funny, knowledgeable, and...well you know, all that stuff that every speaker talks about. I was also once described by an audience member as a "madman" but I was very young then!
